Gee, what's the hoop thing

Looks like a Wellbrook ALA 1530 antenna, uncamouflaged by a bird feeder.

No doubt used until spring for receiving radio stations in whatever house is buried under the avalanche.

Climate change -- 1970s version.

Isn't it intriguing how linear extrapolation of the previous generation's short-term climate changes (then cooling, now warming) led to the identical proposed solution:

Higher taxes, greater regulation, bigger government, and trans-national authority.

Since the same basic solution has also been proposed for dealing with AIDS and other diseases, to say nothing of curing "global poverty" ...

It certainly begins to look like a solution in search of a problem.

Actually, Bart, that snow was melting. It was above freezing all day on what normally would be the coldest part of the year, which around here means below zero.

In fact, we're having a thunderstorm right now!

That's global coldening approaching.

Unusually warm air heading north implies, owing to zero divergence, unusually cold air heading south.

I have a bunch of those lamps in my back yard. If you bury them in snow they melt it and if it's deep enough they make these cool little caves.
