Harry Reid ran the best campaign of the 2010 election season.

Says Chris Cillizza:
He had the worst possible situation for a politician seeking reelection: he was both universally known and not at all well liked by Nevada voters....

From the moment Angle officially won the Republican nomination, the Reid team began a systematic negative campaign against her that will go down in history as one of the best ever. Angle was constantly on defense in the fall -- trying to beat back Reid-generated stories about her comments on Social Security, Medicare and just about everything else.

The strategy reflected the simple reality of Reid's political predicament: his only chance to win the race was to turn it into a "devil you know versus the one you don't" choice for voters.
Cillizza is impressed by Reid's acceptance of the reality that he couldn't make himself more popular. He saw what he had to do — grimly tear down his opponent — and he did it.

There are runners up, including 2 Wisconsinites — Ron Johnson and Scott Walker.

Harry Reid cheated

He's a Democrat.

If he lost would the opinion be the same?

If your not cheating, then you're not really trying yet. It's who counts the vote, not who votes in Dem states. That is why the recent GOP wins in key state governorships means more than we want to admit.

I was connected. I predicted his victory, didn't I? I am good, yes, I made the mistake in House prediction. But, nothwithstanding that I was okay. The WH will go for Obama-Biden in 2012. Their victory will be national (all across the land). The GOP will lose the Senate again. The GOP will lose the House. 2012 a bad year, a very bad year for them.

Sharron Angle, Christine O'Donnell, and Senator-in-waiting Buck of Colorado were the right-wing gifts to Senator Reid and the Democrats. Especially the two ladies.
Perky Christine caused a 30 point shift to Koons from Castle's 10 point margin over Koons, when right wingers decided she was just so adorable and Palinesque,

If possible, Sharron Angle was even worse.

All Reid had to do was accurately educate voters there was someone even more dislikable than him - plus she was as inept as Gov Kathleen Blanco of Katrina fame. Something we heard a few Nevada voters compare Angle to.

I deplore negative campaigning.

Except when my side does it and it works.

I think Reid had a lot of help from the MSM in "grimly tearing down Angle". If we could count the number of words the MSM used in reporting on and micking all things Angle and O'Donnell, it would be a record for little known challenger underdogs.

I read somewhere that Angle had some grandchildren who were Hispanic. If her children married Hispanics. doesn't that mitigate against the bigoted charge. You can criticize her fairly on a number of counts, but the prejudice charge seemed bogus. It wasn't Harry Reid, but the media who ran the best campaign against her.

Marco Rubio charged his home remodeling to his Republican party AmEx and lived. So I'm going with Rubio.

And this is good?

If this is what he thinks of us, what does he think of himself?

It's not impressive to make a relative unknown out to be scary and dangerous.

Most of us would rather spend Thanksgiving with our pain-in-the-ass crazy old uncle than with some stranger that some people say is nuts. It doesn't matter if she is or not, it's just not worth the risk.

Me, I prefer the possible nut to the sure thing, which Reid is.

Howard Johnson ran a great campaign. He won without one endorsement of any major newspaper in Wisconsin. A first in Wisconsin.

He's a shite human being and a crappy legislator, but he did run a very tight campaign - it had to be to get him elected. Until Harry Reid I did not realize it was possible to be both a dried up fossil and a slimy son of a beeatch at the same time.

Dem's organization on the ground registered votes, got out his vote, and helped count the votes. That is what mattered.

The Tea Party must develop such a capability if it hopes to do better.

on the National scene, Republicans must develop a better PR campaign for President; the MSM still defines the moral narrative. Scaring the population regarding spending does not make a permanent ideology.

Isn't Cillizza one of the sleazebags that ran the messaging operation in Gore's execrable campaign in 2000?

note: "sleazebag" is not a partisan term.
