"Live Fish"/"Put the Guns Down."

Untitled

P1100395

We were on the road, but we're home now. These are just 2 drive-by shots. Note the Bucky Badger sticker on the "Live Fish" truck. "Put the Guns Down" is a media campaign of some sort in Chicago.

Live Guns/Put the Fish Down.

Those slippery, slimy fish....

A friend and I were once lost in a big city. When we saw a liquor store enrobed by bars and a store marquee that read, "Stop the violence," we figured we'd ended up in the wrong part of town.

(1) Maybe they are Live
Badger Fish; and

(2) Nothing says "I'm serious about reducing violence" like a billboard campaign - except maybe a hashtag campaign.

When you're motivated to replace the advertising on your marquee with a plea to not be shot, it's time to close up shop and begin again elsewhere.

Like Bucky Badger shooting fish in a sand-filled plastic attenuator.

I bet the Live Fish are saying, "Put the sushi knives down."

Explosives do a fine job of bringing the fish to the surface. Guns don't work well at all.

Then there is the Luckycraft Gunfish, available at Amazon through the Althouse portal.

I've seen a few references to Chicago-area efforts to decrease murder via social pressure. Hence, I'm not surprised at the signs.

Because the Police have been trying to reduce crime for decades, and haven't been successful, or something.

Random aside: I saw a claim, once, that Chicago had a higher death-by-homicide rate during the 1890s than did Tombstone, Arizona. Basically, parts of the Wild West were safer than the city of Chicago...which might mean that Chicago has been a violent place for more than just the last few decades.

A big white hand telling them what to do probably isn't going to get much traction on the south side.

Chicago gang member: "Why, once I saw that billboard saying "Put the Guns Down", with an archaic hand-gesture not carrying any cultural credibility since 1968 or so, I naturally stopped caring about territory and street cred and drug money, and disarmed.

Then my rivals shot me anyway."

Neither will a message in English.

I'm surprised the truck doesn't have a 'Put the gun down' sign. Live fish in (rectangular) barrels: I can't be the only one who thought it might be fun to open the lids and start shooting, before I even saw the second sign.

Blacks are telling each other to put the gun down, while whites are screaming to pick 'em up.

This country is insane,...

Crack, you are such a racist.

Not all whites are screaming for people to pick up guns, not all blacks are telling each other to put them down. And LOTs of whites are telling everyone to put 'em down, and paying big bucks to get the message out.

Give up your stereotypes. You are insane.

Unknown,

"Give up your stereotypes. You are insane."

Not until this insane country gives them up about blacks first.

Whites are lying homicidal maniacs until further notice,...
