Marshawn Lynch reminds Chuck Todd of Al Gore.

Elsewhere: Marshawn Lynch talks plenty while playing Mortal Kombat X with Conan O'Brien (language warning):

ADDED: Everyone was talking about Marshawn Lynch and then, at then, when it couldn't be more important, the Seahawks forgot they had him.

Yes, those are TOTALLY the same!

In bizarro world.

Marshawn does his talking with his legs.

That's because Chuck Todd is a political hack trying, cluelessly, toaoe some kind of connection between political hackery and the Super Bowl because his network is carrying the game this year.

MArshawn Lynch made millions of dollars flogging a false theory of catastrophe caused by burning hydrocarbons, then made millions more by selling a propaganda channel to producers of hydrocarbons for burning?

Marshawn, unlike Gore, wins.

Everyone noticing the sucking up to Dads in the ads? It won't last.

The only really funny ad has been for the Mexican avocado.

The damn half time show is still on. This is supposed to be a football game.

I can't believe the Hawks lost the game on that last call. All they had to do was give it to Lynch who had almost scored on the last play.

Jeeez !

For all you doubters out there the score was Pats 28 Seahawks 24. What does that mean? It means the Pats are world champs, once again!. There are a number of commenters on this blog that I am waiting to see eat a hearty meal of crow.

For your edification here is a report by an independent lab regarding those deflated footballs. Their conclusion? "Footballs used during the American Football Conference Championship game may have lost up to 1.95 psi due to temperature and field conditions alone."

And if you want to know how Pats fans felt about Deflategate watch this!

@Maybee owes Tommy an apology. I will be waiting to see it posted.

For what? For saying he lied? This game has nothing to do with him obviously lying.

Truly great game. Even though errors defined some of the key momentum changes it was a well played game. I even liked the fight at the end. Often the football players come across as a bunch of over-programmed robots. Good to see some emotion.

I think I used every form of the F-word after that last horrible play call. Second-and-goal at the 1? Give the damn ball to Lynch, FFS!

Worst call since that umpire blew the perfect game a few years ago.

I am a Seattle fan, so there is the disclaimer.

Seattle did not play well enough over four quarters to beat Green Bay, but did so anyway: it happens.

Seattle did not play well enough over four quarters to beat New England, but lost: it happens.

If Seattle could string together their best play for sixty minutes they'd be the Super Bowl champs; of course, several other teams can claim this, also.

I am, however, mad that Brady beat the Giselle Curse: football over soccer, always.

@Maybee. Logic is not your strong suit. I will wait for the NFL report for your apology. At that time it will be clear, even to you, that Tom was not lying about fooling around with the footballs. Incidentally, the Pats won. Doesn't that piss you off?

I watched. with friends, the game at a place that served adult beverages. A local television news crew was on hand filming the festivities.

After the loss an acquaintance of mine, out of frustration, went out onto the street and smacked a "No Parking' sign. Probably will find his hand hurting in the morning.

The local television people immediately went to him to interview him on camera.

And that is how news is made.

Seattle gave away the game. Up by 10 and then the ball at the one yard line. Seattle beat Seattle.

At the adult beverage place the vibe upon the loss turned ugly quickly.

Fans of the same team turned on each other over the details of the loss. At least three confrontations that required the bouncers to smooth the situation.

A cute girl in a Seahawks jersey and a tiara was crying uncontrollably.

Another girl sat on the curb outside and sobbed until she threw up.

On the other hand, a Skittles promotion team went through the bar handing out swag.

I also saw betamax3000.

I was reading a Seahawks fan forum. Darrell Bevel is going to need a bodyguard.

khesanh0802 said...

@mccullogh There you are. Seattle lost because the Pats made a couple more plays than they did. Just to remind you: Pats 28 Seattle 24. Go Pats!!!

jr565 said...

Wasn't rooting for either team, until I heard that the head coach of the Seahawks was a truther. Now, I'm glad his truther ass lost.

mccullough said...

Seattle lost because their coaches play calling in the fourth quarter was awful. They should have put the Pats away. The playing not to lose play calling was terrible.

No one except Patriots fans thinks the game was anything other than a blown game by Seattle. They handed the Patriots the game.

averagejoe said...

The two Super Bowls New England lost to the Giants involved miraculous receptions by their opponents and uncharacteristic drops by themselves. Kearse's catch on the five looked like it would be the third miraculous reception to defeat New England in the Super Bowl. Then Butler made the play that winners make.

Humperdink said...

@khesanh0802: T I have no dog in this fight, but the Pats have cheated for years and only got caught twice. Like the guy speeding. He speeds all the time, but gets caught only on rare occasions. Or the DUI suspect, same thing. Or former Commander-in-Heat Bill Clinton.

I suspect the Pats cheated in this game. Probably picked up Bevel's lame play calls via the some wireless signal. Once a cheater, always a cheater.

The should have trusted in Marshawn Lynch, not the capricious gods who'd happened to hand them a miracle 2 weeks ago.

Pete Carroll is a coach who lived by the riverboat gamble. He was a gambler on a lucky streak. Nobody questions his play calling at the end of the first half where a conservative coach would have gone for three. It could have easily gone the other way, but it didn't, so that was great football, right?

No one except Patriots fans thinks the game was anything other than a blown game by Seattle.

On ESPN they gave a "BTW" stat that Lynch was 1 in 5 scoring from that distance over the season but its more fun to imagine you know how it would have come out.

I like the whole "deflategate" thing, keeps the bandwagon jumpers at bay.

The two Super Bowls the Partriots lost could have gone the other way on single plays.

If not for two miraculous plays, the Pats would be 6-0 in Super Bowls and have a perfect season under their belt, but they did give up those plays. Seattle gave up this play. Carroll is part of the team, he called the play. Wilson threw the ball, he didn't have to. He shouldn't have thrown it, the play wasn't there.

But if not for the play by the quarterback and the call by the coach, then sure, Seattle had two more 1 in 5 chances to score a touchdown.

I thought Doug Baldwin's moon/poop a football celebration in the third quarter was bad karma. Thankfully, NBC choose not to show it

Though I don't go in for the taunting like 802 does, I understand it, the above is just stupid. Lynch was 1 in 5 scoring touchdowns this season from that distance. Of course Carroll tried to mix it up. If Butler doesn't make that play, the whole country outside of 5 states and half of Connecticut(Newyorkachusetts) is celebrating Carroll as a hero on that same play call.

tim in vermont said...

Is Seahawks coach Pete Carroll a 9/11 truther? That all depends: Does badgering a former four-star general about whether 9/11 was real make one a truther?

Ha ha ha! Pete is now dealing with a whole bunch of drooling 'Marshawn Lynch troofers' who know more about Seattle's offense than he does! Sweet!

Pete Carroll was also a cheater at USC, who skipped out on the punishment that USC suffered to coach in the NFL.

Ha ha ha!

They used to call Carroll at USC "Big Balls Pete." Nobody wins every gamble every time. But everybody loved him right up until he did what he always does, but lost this time.

That being said, I always like a team with the kind of athletic talent that Seattle has and would have been rooting for them against any other team.

OK, I'm done for now.

Thanks. That makes me feel better. And that is what I said in person when the play happened. You can see why Lynch is ineffective in that situation: giving the ball to him is too predictable.

You don't follow jimbino very closely, do you? He has been advocating for a world free of children for some time. I bet he is a little put out that you didn't pick up on that.

@Tim in Vermont I guess I taunted a bit but after the BS we have been listening to for two weeks a little taunting felt terrific!

The Pats won the GD game by making great plays when they needed to just like they lost to the Giants because they didn't. I plan to wallow in the joy of victory for a day then move on to more important things.

@Mccullogh Since you were giving us your cherry picked stats last week I will give you mine. In the Brady/Belichick era the Pats have been in six (6) Super Bowls and have won 4. During the same period I believe the Seahawks have played in two (2) and are 1 and 1.

Disclaimer: I would have liked both teams to lose - Giants fan. But the above is unfair really to the Pats. If you look at the play at the moment Wilson threw the ball, it looks like a sure completion for a touchdown. That Pat D-Back made a GREAT break on the ball and beat the receiver to it. Give him credit for a great, great play. A rookie.

I would have run Lynch there, but that play is a TD but for a GREAT defensive play. Not just to break it up, but to hold on for the INT.

Before that, the Pats marched up and down the filed on the Seattle defense and scored 14 late points. That wasn't Seattle giving anything away. They could not stop the Pats in the fourth Q.

Ah, the bitter tears and tinfoil hats of the losers.

I think Belichick used mental telepathy to MAKE Russell Wilson throw that last, ill-fated pass. Belichick has probably looked into using the occult to win games and cheat opponents. Now everyone will have a shaman on their payroll next year.

Ignorance is Bliss said...

Live by the last-minute comeback drive, die by the last-minute comeback drive falling short.

Patriots played a better game and deserved to win. If the Seahawks had scored a touchdown on that last drive, they would have played the better game and deserved to win.

That's why you keep score, so at the end you know who played the better game. Barring bad officiating or cheating, the score tells you who played the better game and who deserved to win.

Joe Schmoe said...

I heard Belichick has Darth Vader on the payroll. That's why Belichick was directing that little choking motion towards Pete Carroll on that last play. Who knew the Force was a real thing?

khesanh0802 said...

The one thing everyone ignores on the Pete Carroll call is that a week ago the Packers got the ball with, essentially, no time left and tied the game . He didn't want to see the Pats have the ball and go down to win it the same way. He was trying to run the clock down on a low risk play that did not turn out to be low risk because of a great athletic play. I think his reasoning was sound, it just didn't work out.

Carroll also made a gutsy call at the end of the first half that worked. Only the sportswriters (who have nothing on the line) can have it both ways.

Carroll takes risks, but he knew enough about the percentages to bring his team to two consecutive Superbowls. Nonetheless, if he goes on to win five consecutive Superbowls, this will be the lead item on his obituary........Anyway, I was glad to see Brady catch a break and win a game. That poor man has known nothing but sorrow and deprivation all his life. Dental caries, ankle sprains, bad haircuts. You name it and that man has suffered it. He finally got a chance to savour a bit of life's sweetness.
