Would it fit?

Cheap shot I'm taking so you don't have to, upon reading this Instapundit post:
THEN CHRIS CHRISTIE SHOULD APPOINT HIMSELF TO THE SEAT: New York Times urges Menendez to resign.

Related: Could Chris Christie Appoint Himself To The U.S. Senate? Yes, He Can.
That's not really me making that joke. I disown it. It's just a joke that makes itself that I observed. I disapprove of it. For the record.

The weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth on the left would be worth it.

Fat Jokes are so bad.

But that switch could change the weight of Senate power.

He should appoint Hillary.

He should appoint Hillary.

(snort) That's an awesome idea!

So I am seeing a theme today:

Volokh: man with an internet presence.

Tucker Carlson: man with an internet presence.

Instapundit: man with an internet presence.

I am assuming that I am next.

I am Laslo.

Belmont Club find another self-making comparison

Recently Michele Bachmann has been criticized for comparing president Obama to the deranged Andreas Lubitz, who locked the pilot of the Germanwings airliner cockpit. But the comparison is not appropriate. President Obama is like the pilot who locked himself out of his own cockpit — and left the key inside.

On behalf of overweight people everywhere, thank you for disapproving of the joke you used for the headline of your post.

That's a joke I would expect from a blonde.

"But your right to swing your fist stops where my chin begins."

Well, actually, I think my personal space extends at least 3 ft. out from my body. I do not like anyone closer than that without an invitation.

SomeBody better do SomeThing about this administration's malicious use of police state power to destroy all opposition.

In that role, gov. Christie would be an excellent someBody.

Really, Ms. Althouse, this is an intolerable situation and by aiming the subject off the issue, your silly, obvious joke -- that you do not approve of anyway! -- empowers these Totalitarians as they degrade our rule of Law.

Not classy + Not elevating + off the point = The New Normal shows up at althouse, sigh.

Christie doesn't impress me as a politician who wants to leave his perch as Governor of New Jersey for a Senate seat, where he would have less power and prestige; and where bullying people isn't an acceptable way to get things done (Harry Reid notwithstanding).

I would be more impressed if the NYT were to demand Obama resign for pretty much the same reasons.

Rod Blagojrvich had many of the same thoughts about appointing himself to Obama's Senate seat. His entertaining of discussions with people interested in him appointing them got him stuffed in prison.

Remember Wendy Anderson, who committed political suicide by appointing himself to the Senate.

Spendy Wendy. Who financed the hockey rink in my neighborhood.

Many years ago I was at a Gopher Hockey game at Williams Arena. Between periods I found myself walking alongside Wendy in the concourse- a voice screamed out from above " Hey Wendy, you're lucky we let you back in the state after the kind of shit you pulled" I turned to him and said "Tough crowd, eh, governor?" He looked at me and said "Kid, you have no idea".

Too bad he can't appoint himself to the House. He could sit around it.

No, it wouldn't fit. The Senatorial garb is cut as poorly for a man such as Christie as it is for Cruz. The Senate is being killed cut-by-cut, but it has not yet been fully deprived of its original character, and it is not a place for hard-chargers and hotheads. That isn't its function.

If it didn't fit, I'm sure Ted Kennedy's would.
