"This is the just fourth game in pro football history between two clubs with at least six wins, no losses and no ties."

Tonight's Packers-Broncos game is a "monumental showdown."

"monumental showdown." No it's not. It's a non conference game in the middle of the season. It will likely have no bearing on either team making the playoffs, or seeding.

That said, I hope Denver kicks the shit out of 'em.

Derogatory comment from Curious George in three, two, one, ...

He faster than me, I'll give him that.

Spare me.

The real story is that the Nebraska Cornhuskers have six losses before November 1. That's never happened since 1890.

Original Mike will make some stupid comment about my post in 3...2...1, See I can play too.

The game is not monumental, in that like most NC games it will have little bearing on either team's season. Second, it's not a "showdown". For much the same reason.

But if you want top make the case that I'm wrong, and that it is a "monumental showdown" do it.

I once watched a team with 3 times 6 wins, no losses, and no ties play a game. Didn't work out well for them.

Nor were my first post comments derogatory. Maybe you can explain how they were? Or maybe your problem is that you just aren't very good with the English language.

derogatory - showing a critical or disrespectful attitude

My only mistake was I wasn't fast enough.

Nice try, but I did not show a critical or disrespectful ATTITUDE. I simply disagreed with the premise. And gave the reasons why. Nothing more.

Be a man, admit you were wrong.

The most interesting thing about this game is what it will reveal about the shape of Peyton Manning's throwing arm. There has been all kinds of speculation about whether "Peyton is through". This will be Peyton's first test against a top quality defense this season. Should be enlightening.

See, I don't think you understand what derogatory means. That statement is not in any way derogatory.

First thing to do to get out of a hole: stop digging. You were wrong, admit it.

Shouldn't "PackerBronco" be commenting?

It will likely have no bearing on either team making the playoffs, or seeding.

Three teams in the AFC and two in the NFC that are still undefeated and one NFC team with only one loss. It's a big deal for playoff seeds in each division.

At least it is in New England where 1st round bye and home team advantage in the division championship is always important. Nobody in New England wants to go to Denver in January.

Go Packers! I expect Rodgers to tear up the Broncos Defense.

By your reasoning that would mean every game for now is a "monumental showdown". And it just isn't. No game week 7-8 is that important, especially non-conference games.

BTW, the Packers will be playing the other undefeated NFC team, the Panthers. The outcome of that game matters much more than tonight.

The Broncos will play both other undefeated AFC teams, Cincy and NE....and those games matter much more than tonight because of tie-breakers. So if the Pats don't want to play in Denver, all they have to do it beat Denver, tonight's game is moot.

See what I mean?

I don't. They have not been tearing anyone up and this is a very good defense.

You have to feel sorry for the Nebraska faithful. No NFL, NBA, NHL or MLB team. All they have is the Huskers and they stink this year. Long winter ahead.

Oh, it's way too early in the season for a monumental showdown. Monumental showdowns occur in January.

Your reasoning only matters if you assume the undefeated teams will only be beaten by other undefeated teams. Like you say, it's only week 8...

...and stop proving Original Mike is right about you. Every Curious George comment uses the same formula: Curious George opinion stated as irrefutable fact + disparaging comment/curse word/insult. Normally I scroll by your comments after Garage and ARM. Shame on me for trying...

This game will easily have better ratings than a World Series game that could be a championship clincher, he lamented. I'll be flipping.

The Broncos defense is playing very good this year. The offense, not so much. I'm not sure how much of that is due to Peyron getting old and how much is because Kubiac has really changed the offense. I hope the Broncos win but doubt they will. Hope I'm wrong.

gadfly said...

The Packers will win because Kubiac is an idiot who believes in the bygone concept of QBs under center which just do not work any more. Add that to the dumb coach insisting that an old man who doesn't move well, doesn't throw with the zip and accuracy of yesteryear and who has never played under center into the mix and ...

I am betting on the Packer defense and Aaron to sort this all out.

I'm pulling for you Wisconsin.

There's nothing better (to me) than a depressed Denver on a Monday morning.

This will be Peyton's first test against a top quality defense this season.

Yep, and considering how poorly he's played thus far, it might be brutal to be wearing orange tonight. Muahahahah

Your reasoning requires it dumbfuck. Nether you or OM has posted anything to say my m posy was "Derogatory". Or m\y statement was wrong, Thanks for letting me know what a moron you are. Notes.

Let's talk about failure.

Today, Drew Brees was sitting on my bench. D'oh!

Too bad they can't both lose.

Sorry to have disappointed you, Birches.

Denver's defense looks like it's for real.

I think by halftime of game two Kubiac told Peyton do what you want, just win baby. At least that's when I noticed the change to shotgun.

Perhaps not.

But Kubiac is 7-0 in Denver now, which isn't half bad for an idiot, especially since the offensive line was changed significantly over several weeks because of injury.

The Packers are a pretty weak team. Rodgers is good but the rest of the team is average. Just like most of the years Favre was there. But Favre was fun to watch. Rodgers is pretty boring. He doesn't take any chances, which is why his regular season stats are good but his team loses in the playoffs. He reminds me of Peyton Manning.

Curious George said...

Packers lose historic monumental showdown!

No. Despite the fact that SB Nation got morons like rehajm to believe that. But Denver kicked the shit out them. Good enough for week 8.

New Yawk and the Packers get beat (and especially after all the big talk)!

What a great day!

And when I say New Yawk, I mean the Mets--and the stinkin' Giants!

How happy will I be when Hillary goes down?

Oh, wait. Let's rephrase that. Give me a second...

...when Hillary gives her concession speech (what accent do you think she'll use?).

Larry J said...

I admit my doubts proved unfounded. I'm quite happy to be wrong in this case. The Packers are a highly respected team for good reason. They're a great team with a great history and perhaps the best fans in football. For the Broncos to beat them so convincingly was unexpected.
