"The blood drive at the state Capitol was cut short Tuesday because American Red Cross workers decided it was too loud inside the rotunda to continue."

What the hell? We've quit monitoring the protests at the Capitol. What is going on these days? Stopping a blood drive?!

Maybe they should change the lyrics to, "We Shall Overwhelm."

I like how gracious the protesters are in the article..."we didn't know we were interupting others...we would have gladly went outside...it is everyones house..."

What a bunch of pretencious assholes.

Is it now a prerequisite that we have to ask the cry baby protestors to tune it down so we can have a blood drive? They cant figure that out themselves? Really??
And would they just leave or would they start bitching about their rights being taken away?

Vocal minorites dont win elections. Silent majorities do.

"it is everyone's house?"

It wasn't after these self centered entitled asshole adolescents had it for eight weeks and the other team wanted it for a few hours to hear some speakers and hold a rally.

They carried on like noisy, angry children and apparently they haven't stopped.

I've been hearing for 40 years that "the man" is suppressing liberal speech, and in all that time the preachy f**kers haven't stopped wailing long enough to catch their breath.

Get a life assholes.

Doesn't matter.

Nothing could shame the folks who cry "Shame!" ad nauseum.

Your protesters don't quite seem to grasp the concept that they're the establishment that -- these days -- needs to be overcome.

And will be.

MadisonMan said...

I'm not sure why they didn't ask them to STFU.

Politely, of course.

Apparently none of these special fucks knew what a blood drive was.
Figures.

Sums up the left quite nicely.

Why would these protesters care about a blood drive? It does nothing to increase the pay and benefits of state employees.

So much for the capital being the house of everyone. Looks like the looney left owns it now.

Perfectly illustrates the 'I got mine' left. Everyone else, be damned.

Selfish children, one and all.

Proof that walking away from a childs' temper tantrum is the way to handle things.

Apparently, these idiots' parents catered to every whim.

Madison, look what you've become. These people are running your lives through intimidation, and you're not doing anything about it. You've just granted them a huge victory over the freakin' Red Cross. Only yourselves to blame when things get much, much worse.

Get ready for days and days and days and days of noise making in our Capitol City again. The nut cases are also going to add camping out so we are going to have a tent city - just along the terraces mind you so those of us who want to go to the farmers market, shopping, out to dinner, whatever are going to have to deal with their crap and their noise for half the month of June.

The ens justifies the means. These a$$holes don't care whom or what they disrupt as long as they......disrupt!

Singalong organizer Chris Reeder said nobody told them song volumes were a problem Tuesday, adding that singers are "very amenable" to going outside if someone else needs the rotunda."

Why would they have to be told? Don't they possess even the barest shred of empathy or observational ability to realize when someone else is using the space for public benefit? The point of citizenship and polite social interaction is to not have to be told that you're being disruptive.

MadisonMan said...

Madison, look what you've become.

I think I ask a good question. Why was no one able to get up the gumption to tell them to be quiet? Why let someone else run your life?

Lincolntf said...

MM, where have you been for 4 months? What happens 99% of the time someone tries to move/quiet down/ask for compliance when these idiots are involved? Screaming, threats, occupations. They are anti-reason, and trying to reason with them just brings out the worst in 'em. I'm sure the polite asking method was tried, by the way.

Bushman of the Kohlrabi said...

It's time to move the circus outside. You can't go into the Capitol building in Washington D.C. and act like this. If you have to sing, chant, drum, or otherwise disrupt others, do it outside.

MadisonMan said...

I'm sure the polite asking method was tried, by the way.

Yet there is no line in the article: We asked them to stop, and they didn't.

But if you're sure, well, then of course it happened that way.

Automatic_Wing said...

Probably because the people in charge of the blood drive didn't want to get into a confrontation with the protesters.

I am sort of skeptical that these people would have been "amenable" to moving if only they'd known that they were being a bother.

The blood drive started at 9 AM and was well underway when the aging hippies showed up at noon for their daily singalong.

What kind of people walk into the middle of a blood drive and start and started chanting and stamping their feet? People who are intent on getting their own way.

If the Red Cross nurses had asked these people to move, they probably would have recited some bullshit about exercising their free speech rights, we have just as much right to be here as you, etc.

The Red Cross wasn't interested in creating a "scene" and moved on.

Lincolntf said...

I'm "sure" the same way I'm "sure" of lots of things, because I live in a rather predictable world. What universe do you live in where asking that someone stop disrupting your blood drive requires a leap of imagination? Have you ever had a single human interaction? Do you know how they generally proceed? I can't prove they asked, but I can prove you're an idiot if you think they didn't.

MadisonMan said...

I agree and this is my point. The Red Cross people had everything on their side, and yet they did nothing. You might argue that they shouldn't have to be put in the position to do anything at all, but that's not the perfect world we live in.

This would have been a good time not to have been a lamb.

Lincolntf said...

Yeah, MM, the end result of what you're saying is that the Red Cross should be forced to do battle with a bunch of hooligans. Never mind what the lambs should've done, get the stinking jackals out of the Capitol.

MayBee said...

It's the fault of the Red Cross!
Not at all the fault of people who think singing in the Capitol (it's our house!) is an important endeavor.

mrs whatsit said...

The burden is not on the Red Cross to have to ask other citizens for reasonable access to a public building. The burden is the citizens who are preventing others from using public space to cut it out. If they're too full of themselves to realize that they're being obnoxious, they deserve the public opprobrium that will naturally result.

I've been wondering for a while now how the people who have to work in that building can get anything done what with all the noise and antics. I wonder how much the months of disruption have cost taxpayers in terms of lost productivity. Perhaps the Red Cross workers have gotten tired of the non-stop highjinks and made a calculated decision to help the protestors make themselves look bad.

wv: sonifero (It was too soniferous in the Capitol for citizens to use it.)

MadisonMan: You seem to actually live in Madison, so why don't you pop over to the Capitol and ask the protesters to pipe down. Give us a report. Thanks.

Bayoneteer said...

The capitol police force are a bunch of unionized pussies who don't have control of their own building. Here in progressive ann arbor you couldn't even pull this stunt inside any gov facility. And it has been tried too.

MadisonMan said...

so why don't you pop over to the Capitol and ask the protesters to pipe down.

Getting in to the Capitol is a PITA. All that "necessary" security. The amount being spent on overtime is amazing.

Plus it's 12+ blocks away. If nothing else, I am lazy.

Exactly. The Union Goons are saying they would have let the Red Cross continue if they had only asked nicely.

Fuck them.

AlanKH said...

State capitol? When I think of politicians I always think of vampires. maybe the Red Cross is onto something.

Bryan C said...

I have to agree with MM, someone there from the Red Cross should've asked them to quiet down before they packed up and left. As individuals we've gotten into a very bad habit of simply surrendering to bad behavior or calling in law enforcement to act like our mommies and handle what should be everyday social interactions.

Yeah, these guys shouldn't be doing this in the first place, and they might yell at you if you talk to them. So what?

Methadras said...

The noise!!! It's not good for the blood...

MadisonMan said...

Yeah, these guys shouldn't be doing this in the first place, and they might yell at you if you talk to them. So what?

And it would look worse, much much worse, if it was reported that the Red Cross (politely) asked them to STFU and they didn't.

I think even the dimmest protester -- and there are many candidates -- understands the horrifically bad PR of messing up a Red Cross blood drive.

Lincolntf said...

You're deluded MM. You'll be defending these jackasses up to and during the burning of the Capitol. "Nobody told them fire was banned! There were no signs!"

MadisonMan said...

Read more carefully.

But they did exactly that.
And you are defending them.
Or at least implying they were too dim to realize their noise was messing up the Red Cross blood drive.
