"A state employee was arrested on suspicion of endangering safety with a dangerous weapon Thursday in relation to an argument over a balloon in the Capitol."

"Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne could not be reached to say how long it would take to decide whether to charge the employee. The charge the Capitol Police are recommending is a misdemeanor."

Balloons are victims, not counting the Hindenberg ("For God's sake close cover before striking").

I don't know if they allowed cutlery on the Hindenberg.

You see the trouble we have caused by these no smoking rules.

15 years ago this swordsman would have popped her balloon with a lit cigarette.

No mess, no bloody hands and no Crime.

"Dangerous weapon"? YEAH RIGHT.

Madison, Wisconsin, surely supplies enough passive-aggressive bullshit for the whole damn hemisphere.

It's like getting news from Osl0o. Glad they can keep busy.

I guess the state worker was wrong to take a knife with him to work?

Then, of course, there's the DNA evidence going against him.

Is this what is called a tempest in a tea pot?

Endangering safety would be something like mocking the people in charge.

Safety would be made ridiculous.

It would no longer work. It's in danger.

Engangering a balloon carrier is another matter, but they'd have to prove that.

Apparently if you surround your charge with enough gas then nobody notices that the units are wrong.

When balloon knives are outlawed...

So what does an anti-walker person have to do get charged by the Dane County DA? Let's start a pool. I'll go with 1st degree murder downgraded to a disorderly conduct citation.

I bet that guy was wishing that Meade was filming him then?

Seriously, do Madison wackos realize how stupid they look when the popping of a balloon is the headline right now? That they are throwing a fit over the death of a balloon. Good fucking god. There is mass starvation in the horn of Africa. Norway just had 80 people murdered by one guy. There is a drought of Biblical scale in Texas. The nation is trillions of dollars in debt and may go broke.

The headlines in Madison? "Balloon popping creates scandel".

(For the record...I am commenting on the general population making a big deal of this, not Althouse blog covering the brewah.)

The emergence of ballon fetishes lately in porn circulation is disturbing...

How does that start...

Akward.

Paid leave and he doesn't have to get balloons off the ceiling.

Aw geeze....

Can't these people get with it?

I read of babies drowning in swimming pools, little girls being kidnapped (or worse), robberies, murders, and these yo-yo's worry about a employee popping balloons with a, what, knife of some sort?

There really are some criminals out there, but this guy was not one.

Paradox alert: The protestors who are protesting for the rights of state workers deny the balloon popping rights of a state worker.

How m much lighter-than-air-gas is inside the skulls of Madison citizens?

The solution to the balloon problem.

One of the things my parents taught me early was "don't make extra work for other people." Apparently the protesters never learned that.
You can do things in the aftermath of this. Realize that your narcissism affects actual blue-collar workers or continue to think that the world revolves around you as martyr to the cause.
It's obvious from the news article which one the left in Madison has chesen.
I'd hate to be a janitor, stockboy or waitress in that town.

How many of thousands (millions?) of $$$ does the WiGOP estimate it costs to clean up a popped balloon?
