Romney: "I won't cry. But I do!"

Does that count as flip-flopping?

Romney's talking about his parents there, and the audience member who says "Don't cry" is presumably alluding to Newt Gingrich getting "all teary-eyed" talking about his mother.

Ick. I thought we got past the Alan Alda sensitive man era. It really is the seventies all over again.

Considering that cruelty is the flip side of sentimentality, the less a candidate-for-an-extremely-powerful-position cries over his mother the better.

Romney is as always Mr Cardboard Man.

Let's hope that Obama's attraction for the voters has are gone away, because Romney has nothing to the attract voters with.

Many will vote for a Cardboard man over Obama, but will it be enough?

The GOP Brahmins only want the Senate and House to use as bargaining chips for payoffs for halfway opposing Obama for four years.

As the Iowa talk radio host, Steve Deace, said so well, only Gingrich has the tools and the zany determination to undue any of what the Dems have done to us with the GOP's cooperation since 2006.

Anyone not touched to the point of misty eyes when recalling deceased parents is not qualified to be President of the United States.

Anyone thinks differently on this is a complete asshole. Grow a pair, stoic pussies!

Happy to clarify the issue permanently for you.

Happy New Year!

So Althouse, how big of a crush do you have on mittens ~ really, really big or just really big.

And oh the irony that teary eyed gingrich was gonna crush Obama in the debates.

Indeed, let's all shed a tear for born w/a silver spoon, habitual liar, flip/floppin', phoney as the day is long, RINO mittens.

That's one of the flaps about Romney.. that during all his life as "entrepreneur extraordinaire", "turn around artist" the guy just wont regale us with stories and anecdotes from those years.

You think he had a million of them.

His parents might be a start.

wv kamabma: closely related to kenipshit.. is a condition polititians get when talking about their mother.

(For an extreme case see the current speaker of the house)

Maybe he was brainwashed to not cry.

Althouse is not that different from all the other libs: promote the hell out of Romney during the primaries as the Repub nominee, then vote for Obama in the general.

I hope shiloh and the other lefties who keep accusing our hostess of bias against The Won apologize to her when she posts the "How Mitt Lost Me" item next fall.

The Republican Establishment is much too comfortable to go the conservative route but "Stick with us, you dumb yokels, and we'll deliver the goods in 2016. Why not 2012? you ask. It's just too close, it's right on top of us, we can't pull the trigger yet...but we will, we will, we will in 2016," (suckas).

Lots of crying.. but no honesty.

The shortest bible verse is about crying.

"How Mitt Lost Me"

Probably why Althouse is smitten w/mittens as they are both flip/floppers ie not too dependable.

Ironically, many of her conservative flock are quite loyal, differing opinions notwithstanding. :D

If you try to please everyone, you end up pleasing no one.

Remember when Hillary's PUMAs would never/ever vote for Obama.

As Althouse will tell 'ya, presidential elections come down to choices or you can stay home ...

The Mormons are extremely family-oriented, so I don't doubt Milton can get emotional at the appropriate time, but he's also what Time once called a WASPirant and does the Beacon Hill stoicism to perfection.

The VA AG is stepping in to the primary mess and it looks like Newt and the Conservatives will all be on the ballot, so it ain't as over as many trolls and some faint hearts would like to believe.

"I won't cry. But I do!"

You will but you won't, you do but you don't

The more that you say, you don't do it anyway
You know that you don't
Yea, you've had it in for me, you always did anyway
It's a sin to me
Guilty or not, it's time that I got myself out of here

Romney is still hanging steadily "tough" at 24%.

Allow me to interpolate that for you. More than 3 out of 4 Republicans are saying, and have been consistently saying, "anybody but Romney." Romney is a one-man Suppress The Republican Vote in 2012 machine, which is why the Dems salivate at the prospects of him being Obama's opponent.

Saying "I want Romney" is tantamount to saying, "I want Obama." Because that'll be the result. And it's one of the few ways the Rs can lose in 2012.
