"Oh, this is the metronome thread?"

Says HuronBob in the "Snooky and the metronome" thread:
Then you need this. Not only do cats twitch in time to metronomes, but metronomes twitch in time to cats metronomes.

I looked but it seems that YouTube has removed that video of 32 discordant menstrual cycles achieving synchrony in a matter of minutes.

Less time on metronomes. More time on Jetson cars!

Ha! It figures...I think something is cool as this is and nearly no one likes it but me. :-(

Reminds me of the old days of vacuum assist windshield washers on our Scout. The kind that were mounted on the top of the windshield, not down by the hood. The wipers would only be in sync for a few wipes and would gradually get way out of synchronization and then back into wiping in the same direction. You would begin to count the swipes between intervals as you were driving along. It was hypnotizing.

Very cool.

DBQ, I swear that windshield wipers are only original source of phase music.

Reviewing a disc just now including a piano trio by Per Norgard (sorry about the missing diacriticals) titled Spell, from 1973. The liner notes aren't quite clear, but the idea seems to be that all three players have individual discretion over things like duration and dynamics. How you'd actually notate this I don't know, and there's some violin/cello coordination in this performance that I'm hard-pressed to believe wasn't by compositional design. But I haven't seen the score. Yet.
