Cory Booker surprised by the need to fight for that New Jersey Senate seat.

Politico observes, noting there's a debate today:
For Booker, it’s a chance to show he is engaged in the race, and not the celebrity candidate who’s off giving speeches at colleges, as Booker has, during the waning days of the campaign...

Working in Booker’s favor is the fact that the debate is on a Friday, in the middle of the day. It won’t be widely broadcast, meaning most voters will learn about it from the media. It minimizes the potential impact of any gaffe or slip-up....

He is a Democrat, he is black, he is in New Jersey, he is a shoo-in. Everything else is bull manure.

If Christie is such a conservative why is Booker his boy?

Booker is not beloved by the left wing. They have to accept his inevitability as well.

He and Christie are much closer on the spectrum than the average Senator from the two parties.

Booker is a far left librul and will show his true leanings in the Senate. He will not vote against any of the Dem party lines.

Wait -- you mean you can't just show up? Even if you've been anointed?

I hope the Democrats in Wisconsin are paying attention as they try to ram what's-her-name -- the rich Trek lady? -- down our throats.

Open primaries are a good thing.

Mary Burke.

I knew I'd remember as I hit publish.

Booker is an Obama wannabe with an equally thin resume. Seems to have the same distaste for hard work.

Booker is definitely a likable guy, but he doesn't seem especially honest or hard working. Well it's New Jersey, and his flaws are within tolerable limits. I think he'll make a better Senator than Lautenberg who, thanks to a corrupt physician, was allowed to serve despite being clinically dead for the past two years.

Do they "serve"? Methinks we've been serving their interest.

Anyway, the Senate will be half empty if the brain dead are not allowed to lord over us.

I don't live in New Jersey. Never have. But I've driven through it. Jersey Turnpike. Not good. But there's some nice parts out in the west and northwest. Maybe they could secede. Booker can be senator from the eastern part and Lonegan from the western part.

This is our next president. He will not be allowed to lose, and the voters be damned.
