"Joyce Mitchell had sexual relationships with both escaped N.Y. inmates, sources say."

The Daily News reports:
Mitchell, who met the pair in 2013, was investigated by prison officials after a co-worker reported she had inappropriate contact of a sexual nature with [David] Sweat, the sources said.

Her supervisors found nothing to back up the claim because Mitchell continued to supervise Sweat, who turned 35 on Sunday, and the reportedly well-endowed [Ricard] Matt, 48, as they stitched Metro-North uniforms in the prison tailoring shop.
The one known for his endowment was not just a killer but a penciler of portraits of celebrities. Like this:

Endowment for the Arts.

In other prison-sex news: "Brett Robinson, 33, is the second female staffer at the Washington County Jail to be accused of bedding inmate Jang-Li Delgado-Galban, a gang leader locked up in maximum security." Robinson will argue "temporary insanity," seemingly based on the notion that she was "vulnerable, passive and gullible" and suffered from the "delusion" that Jang-Li loved her.

Sex is temporary insanity. That sums it up.

Maybe civiliation does need rules restricting sex like it had for the first 5,000 years or so.

That portrait of our future president has a Diego Rivera quality about it, n'est pas?

I wonder if he drew any of Jody Foster.

Matt sounds like a rennaissance man. He could become a great magical injection man in Medical Euthanasia cases so it would be like art and not industrially cold. Bedside manner counts.

I wonder if this could happen in a scientific laboratory.

How in the world did Mitchell expect to live for more than 24 hours after driving them away, I don't know. Sad or stupid, I don't know which to pick first.

So this story is all about how two men had sexual relations with "that woman" at the Bill and Hillary Clinton Correctional Facility?

Figures.

Ever wonder why the Founding Father's, so brilliant in so many ways, didn't give women the right to vote?

Does a woman's desire render her incapable of consent?

"I wonder if this could happen in a scientific laboratory."

Nah. We know that never happens.

"The larger point is that women and men need to learn how to get along professionally in the workplace, and that's not inconsistent with having a sex drive or with wanting to be sexually attractive."

If inmate artists get inspiration from sex with guards, they get along professionally without any inconsistency.

If potential escapees get assistance from female guards in planning their escape, it just shows how sex helps rather than hinders the professional tasks at hand.

I have been dismayed watching CNN and hearing several female pundits talk about Joyce being led astray by a man. Have you ever noticed when it comes to prisons- whether we are talking about convicts or workers- women have always made a mistake for a man?

I hope he didn't "tell promises that weren't true" because that would add sexual assault to his record.

Thread winner.

Again, we have women as prison guards in male prisons...why?

They can't physically stop an inmate. If something bad happens, the male guards will have to risk their health to protect her AND deal with inmates.

Perhaps this is what happens when it's more important that women have these jobs than it is that dangerous criminals not escape from prison? That is, although it's true that most female guards would never have sex with a prisoner, it's also 100% predictable that some will.

In any case, one can only hope that severe punishment might serve as a deterrent to anyone who might consider a similar folly.

I am still waiting for a detailed map of the route they were following out of the prison and an explanation of how they came to know that this could be done.

And no, I do not believe that this was within this woman's capabilities.

You are right. One can only hope. One certainly can't expect...

Punish a woman for falling in loooooove? You're joking, right?

I see this as a Madame Bovary story. Here's a woman trapped in a sour marriage and a dull job. She has some inchoate sense that there must be some other way of living that would give her life adventure and romance. It wasn't just the prisoners who were looking to escape.......Feminists should applaud this woman and her bold strike against the patriarchal prison of our society. Hillary, in particular, should stand forthrightly behind her. Joyce Mitchell was one of her upstate constituents, and, if you drew a Venn diagram of their lives, there would be a great deal of overlap. While it's true that Hillary doesn't have Joyce's youth and sex appeal, they do look somewhat alike. Hillary should embrace the resemblance and make this a teachable moment.. Perhaps this inmate portrait of her could be used for campaign purposes the way Obama used that Fairey portrait........Joyce Mitchell is the Angela Davis of the blonde and the hefty. Justice for Joyce, and the Oval Office for Hillary.

So on prison campuses unlike university campuses, Brett Robinson's later regretted sex acts aren't considered rape.

She probably saved her own life when she got cold feet. If she'd gone through with it I don't see how she would have survived. She would have been useful as long as she kept driving and wasn't all over the news. After that, she was dead.

Maybe the rational part of her brain came to the rescue. She chose life.

How dare the state try to tell a woman what she can do with her own body?

My local jail no longer has male guards in the female section because the women prisoners kept causing guards to be fired. The basic scenario: 1) women has sex with male guard; 2) women attempts to blackmail guard into helping them escape; 3) guard says "no way"; 4) women reports guard to warden who and guard is fired. This apparently happened enough that the Sheriff just banned men working in the women's wing. They still have women guards in the male wing, though.

Was there evidence than #1 actually happened in all of those cases?

Under the law, she IS a rapist. Inmates by definition, are wards of the state, incapable of giving informed consent. And every prison employee goes through an indoctrination that tells them that. And employees in NY are relentlessly reminded of this. I know this from experience.

That's some fine journalism.
"Reporter": Like, did he have a big dick?

Good to see the let no "tragedy" go to waste crowd got a chance to point to budget/overtime cuts. Because..you start to lose self-esteem in that kind of work environment. Pretty soon you're giving blowjobs to clients. All so preventable if the rich paid their fair share..

I just read "Days of Rage" and a woman guard was having sex with a black male inmate who then murdered her. She disappeared and her body was found in a landfill. This is apparently not that rare.

Oh i don't know. Can one draw a similarity between this poor deluded woman and say, someone who was enticed to vote for Obama. Someone who is a professor, and should have known better. Naaaahhh... silly coincidence.

As far as guard/prisoner dalliances, we have a regular commentator to this blog who is quite open about a predilection for "big hogs". I'm sure there are plenty of homo hook-ups in both men and women's prisons. the only difference being you could dominate the market share of your cable tv provider with the feed from only one.

As for physically handling an inmate, the toughest woman in the would have a hard time with an average man. Darwin sux, but there it is.

The problem with having female prison guards is that the convicts fall in love with them. Also, they cry when you criticize them.
