TO make a prairie it takes a clover and one bee,—
One clover, and a bee,
And reverie.
The reverie alone will do
If bees are few.

The wild indigo that's also blooming at Governor Nelson is especially lovely this year.

2015 seems to be the year of spiderwort and wild indigo, last year it was the columbine that seemed to have perfect growing conditions.

I see the coneflowers are trying to start blooming a little early this year - we have a patch of purple coneflower is already blooming, the other patches still have a few weeks. Yellows seems pretty tall for this time of year too.

I planted Spiderwort a few years ago. Three plants IIRC. The next year we had seven or eight. Oh joy. The third years we had HUNDREDS, scattered far and wide. Been digging them out ever since.

Ahh, peaceful and serene. We need more of this.

Whenever I try to take a photo of my Spiderwort, it comes out looking too purple. How did you get them to look blue?

@Amichel That's been my favorite poem for a long time.

@Mark I've got a good picture of wild indigo. I'll put it up later. Yes, it was the most striking plant out there yesterday. Meade did nice pictures of the emerging coneflowers.

@sydney These look purple to me. I just used the iPhone 6.

@HoodlumDoodlum Already blogged that yesterday.

Ruh roh...Mr Campaign Finance reform only distributed 5% of the $7 million in donations to his PAC Progressive United to canditates.

"Former U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold — long a champion of campaign finance reform — founded a political action committee that has given a mere 5% of its income to federal candidates and political parties.

Instead, nearly half of the $7.1 million that Progressives United PAC has spent since 2011 has gone to raising more money for itself, according to data compiled by OpenSecrets.org. The data also show the group has paid another sizable chunk of money on salaries or consulting fees for Feingold, his top aide and eight former staffers."

The PAC was created with the aim of "directly and indirectly supporting candidates who stand up for our progressive ideals."

Sounds like Mission Accomplished.

I have (had) beautiful cone flower plants in my garden. But that fucking rabbit ate it all when I forgot to spray with the repellent one day after rain.

Prof: so you did, I missed that at the bottom of your Dylan post, thanks!
I thought the non-Prince guest list was the most interesting part of the story. I remember Christopher Hitchens citing Reagan's habit of dining with just his family (when he could have invited any notable personage he chose) as evidence of the President's smallmindedness. I wonder what the current Pres' guests say about him.

Really like that second photo. Very nice "glamour shot" of June bugs (or some other kind of beetle?).

June bugs in the South are green velvet in color.

I remember reports about that dinner in Rome where he asked the staff to invite well known personages. I understand they were bored stiff with his monomania and narcissism.

Curious George ignored the money that was directed by Progressives United, just talks internal funds.

Anything for your partisan attack, even being deliberately ignorant.

George, you have a sad life if that's where an open thread takes you.

Rather presumptuous of you Mark to judge someone's life over a short post, wouldn't you say? You may want to look at your own life.

LOL I'm quoting the reporter you fucking moron. And the reason this is a story is because the money spent by Feingold and his PAC is not explainable.
