Oh goody. Those totally bogus and debunked sex assaults on campus "statistics".

Even the people who authored that lame-ass online "study" cautioned that it should NOT be used as if it were an actually peer reviewed study.

But to the Left, these are the gifts that just keep on giving. No matter how much real, actual evidence is provided to refute it, they will use it until their dying breath to advance their Leftist agenda.

It's Zombie statistics. It will never die...

To who ?

The "hate crimes" are almost all hoaxes now.

This is a theme well past its "sell by date."

I guess one explanation is that it’s hard to fake chopping your head off, or having you and your loved ones blown to bits, when you can, as a Tennessee lesbian couple famously did, burn your own house down after scrawling QUEERS on the front wall to collect the insurance money.

If kinda seeing Beyonce's cooter thru her latex dress counts as sexual assault you're undercounting on the men's side.

Oh now I get it- I report it as so and it counts towards the stats.

Ho hum college students are so dumb.

I suspect it is 1/33 for both sexes (and, yes, there are only two sexes.) If there were really 25% of womyn who had been sexually assaulted would college student populations really be 60% womyn? That this statistic has been able to survive the last four or five years proves, ipso facto, that universities are populated by idiots who are taught by morons.

Rather than exercise some analytic thinking skills to take apart the bogus claims of sexual assaults, these good students have volunteered to become "useful idiots". The bad news is there is no way they will pay off their student loans after they graduate on Starbucks barista wages.

Based on how loose a definition of sexual assault they use, I'm surprised the number is not more like 9 out of 10 for both men and women.

By the time I graduated from college I had been repeatedly sexually assaulted by a high school coach, sexually assaulted by a girlfriend, and sexually assaulted by a passing stranger at a dance.

All of the incidents were trivial, and all would have met the standards used in the survey.

The sign is false as written. Female students don't report they have experienced sexual assault at those rates. The questionnaires ask about relatively innocuous events like brushing past another person while walking which the propagandists then aggregate with serious events and report all to the public as "sexual assault".

Some questionnaires have also asked why respondents didn't report the events and the overwhelming answer is "it wasn't important enough to report". The entire issue is a language crime. Alarmists have labelled as sexual assault behavior and/or incidental contact no none believes is sexual assault. Then they rely upon the common understanding of sexual assault to drive outrage even though they intentionally rejected that definition. It's the activist corollary to dividing by zero (by which I can mathematically prove 2 = 3).

I wonder how many of them realize their contribution to society is mythology. They pretty much all have to know, right?

Lots of questions:
Can I sue the school for not taking the steps necessary to reasonably protect my daughter, despite the substantial tuition and housing I have to pay for the privilege of having her assaulted? I guess I am the worst parent in the world for sending my child off to a University where she has a 1 in 4 chance of being sexually abused. Can we make this a new recruitment slogan: "75% of you won't be raped, but graded on a curve that's not too bad."

Mike Sylwester said...

Why weren't these statements simply written with chalk on campus sidewalks?

That's how Trump 2016 statements are written.

As a sexual assault victim - nay survivor - I have absolute moral authority to agree with Rick.

I'm glad activists have to insure that people are annoyed by them at all costs.

1/4 women. PRISONS don't have that high a percentage of rape. As said elsewhere, with these numbers, kids would safer in jail than at Harvard.

But, yes, when a "rape crisis" is ongoing, let's also make sure we allow men in the women's restrooms and locker rooms. For equality!

What's the difference between "signage" and plain, ordinary "signs"?

"When it comes to protecting you from rape, we're a middle-of-the-road grade of C!"

I wonder why rape rates are so bad on campuses and so really, really low literally everywhere else. Like if you walk one block off of campus, your odds of being raped drop by a massive percentage.

The signs offer two assertions of fact. Could the students who put them up answer, "Do you believe this, and if so why do you believe it"?

Or is boring stuff like "What do you believe and why do you believe it" is just part of any required curricula?

Sexual assaults are actually counted using complex numbers. The police reports only include the real portion of the numbers. To get an accurate count you need to include the other component too.

fivewheels said...

The obvious question is: Why is the sexist and oppressive atmosphere at college campuses silencing men? Why don't they feel free to report the crimes that are committed against them, which we know happen in equal numbers because men and women are totally equal and the same in every way?

What do you mean, those are only questions that would be asked if the numbers were reversed?

So then, the condition of women at the UW-Madison campus is about as bad as in Afghanistan.

No wonder feminists here show little concern about Afghanistan. The poor dears have so much to do wandering up and down Bascom hill.

Ryan said...

The numbers don't add up so clearly the women are assaulting each other.

Does "experiencing" sexual assault include doing it to someone? What about watching it? If so then women are way more rapey.

There is a case a man being raped by two women, one after the other, as rape is defined these days, chronicled in the Bible. You may be familiar with this:

http://www.mechon-mamre.org/p/pt/pt0119.htm

30 And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar; and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.

31 And the first-born said unto the younger: 'Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth.

32 Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.'

33 And they made their father drink wine that night. And the first-born went in, and lay with her father; and he knew not when she lay down, nor when she arose.

34 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the first-born said unto the younger: 'Behold, I lay yesternight with my father. Let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.'

35 And they made their father drink wine that night also. And the younger arose, and lay with him; and he knew not when she lay down, nor when she arose.

36 Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.

Get out the shotguns, the pistols and the revolvers, parents of college aged females on campus. Give them to your daughters, loaded. I assume you already taught them how to shoot, right? If not, why the hell not? Teach them now, immediately, before they experience sexual assault on campus, so they can prepared for self defense, be more situationally aware, and have the self confidence to back "NO" with a knee to the nuts or a shot to center of mass.

Anyone perpetuating the "1 in X" where X= 3, 4, 5, 6.... statistic about campus sexual assault reports who simultaneously objects to the arming of students for their own self-defense can be ignored, without further discussion of their selected subject.

1/2 signs spelled "experienced" correctly...

Unknown said...

So. Why not take a picture of these signs, Mr. Scott Walker, and introduce a bill calling for shutting down the university? Clearly it is a very unsafe space. And as our leftist betters tell us, sexual assault is a huge problem. We need to shut the university down until we are sure we can reduce these sexual assault cases dramatically.

How can we ask our female students to endure this epidemic? Shut it all down and fire the staff and teachers who allow this sort of thing to have reached such disastrous proportions!

Etienne said...

I think it was the third grade, when our teacher began teaching cursive writing.

It immediately started a segregation of the students. Those that could create flowing letters were given gold stars and hugs, and the others (like me) were moved to the rear seats, and prepared for industrial classes.

It's interesting today, with computers everywhere, that longhand really serves no purpose. I wonder how they segregate students in the third grade now?

rcocean said...

"Sexual assaults are actually counted using complex numbers. The police reports only include the real portion of the numbers. To get an accurate count you need to include the other component too."

Yeah. You take the real number and then multiply by 50 to get the number you want. It's called fantasy.

rcocean said...

Why should professors have tenure when they are helping to create an unsafe environment where 1/4 of all Co-ed get raped.

Are the male professors doing all the raping or just helping the Male students?

Why aren't people holding them responsible?

RMc said...

Obviously, we need to start assaulting men eight times faster. Or something.

Chuck said...

rcocean - Illegal Mexicans are doing the raping. And some, I assume are good people.

But the statistics are mind-boggling, Don. Who's doing the raping, Don?

Chuck said...

Just kidding. But somebody else wasn't:

I'd like to see the definition for "sexual assault" that they are using to calculate those statistics. Seems bogus to me, but I'm not a Wisconsin undergraduate.

And can your sign-writers figure out how to plan ahead?

RMc said...

I wish I could put little signs reading "[citation needed]" next to the bigger signs.

Gahrie said...

OK, seriously.....now it has gone from 1 in 5 to 1 in 4??? What....the ....fuck....

If one in four women on college campuses were getting sexually assaulted, what parent in their right mind would be sending their daughters to college???

Is that what you are arguing? That American parents are monsters who send their daughters off to get raped?

If that was actually happening, the colleges would be full of lynch mobs made up of angry fathers.....we get pissed when foreign women get raped, but somehow we're fine with it happening to our daughters?

i know I know...don't bother me with facts and logic..it's about feelings.

Chuck: "Just kidding. But somebody else wasn't:"

This is the part of the festivities where "lifelong republican" Chuck determines it's necessary to ignore crimes committed by illegal aliens in order to attack Trump while "courageously" refusing to offer any criticism at all at any time for any reason against Hillary.

Precisely what you would expect from your standard issue "lifelong republican".

Chuck said...

Big Mike: You've asked the right question!

Here is a reasonable approach, journalistically handled, that pokes a lot of holes in the "one in five" claim. The "one in four" claim may be peculiar to Wisconsin and Madison; it is almost all assuredly bullshit:

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/article/2014/may/02/are-20-percent-women-sexually-assaulted-they-gradu/

Here's the leader in the clubhouse, for conservative pushback on those survey results (they are definitely NOT crime stats). It was written by the marvelous Heather MacDonald of the Manhattan Institute:

If true, this is definitive evidence for progressive dysfunction caused by the State-established PC (pro-choice) church, the dysfunctional revolution carried out by female chauvinists and their male gawkers, and the creation of unsafe spaces in liberal environments. I wonder if it was [class] diversity or debasing human life that selected and now conserves this state.

Not surprising when the feminists are calling any unsolicited attention a sexual assault. A homely guy says hi to the progressive snob- BAM! That's sexual assault.

Pettifogger said...

Ann, you criticize using the word "garner," but then you use the word "signage." Seldom does the word "signage" do anything that "sign" or "signs" do not. Certainly not in this case. We're all guilty of this sort of thing from time to time.

robother said...

So, women are at much greater risk of sexual assault on the UW Madison campus than in a Nigerian war zone? What kind of parents would send their daughters into such a hell-hole? What kind of professors and administrators are extracting 10s of thousands of dollars from women students for the privilege of enduring such assaults?

Shouldn't the Governor be closing the UW Madison campus, and helicoptering all the girls and women out of there? If it is a hate crime to even question the validity of such statistics, Republicans should act forcefully as if they really believed them.
